 Buy Bitcoin using Creditcard

Most of the international websites will offer several payment options, one of which is creditcard. This way you can usually instantly buy cryptocurrencies up to a certain amount.

Or current favorite is Coinbase, which is a large and reliable company. You can also buy other coins like Litecoin and Ethereum.

Buying Bitcoin on an Exchange

An exchange is a kind of marketplace, where people can buy and sell cryptocurrencies from each other. It is a very flexible environment where the price is constantly fluctuating because of the buy and sell demand. Exchanges are used to do trading. You can choose to directly buy your cryptocurrencies using a buy order, or choose a set price with a limit order.

There are dozens of possibilities, with stop loss limits, trailing stops and all kinds of analysis. For a first purchase we would recommend one of the easier options. Once you get the hang of it you can move onto an exchange and buy your bitcoin by trading.

An exchange usually charges a small fee per trade, usually between 0.1% and 0.3% of the traded amount. This might seem like much, but in other purchasing options these fees are often hidden away and much higher.  There are several payment options, of which creditcard and SEPA transfer are the most common. In case you already have cryptocurrencies you can also trade them against other coins.

As of now our favorite exchange is Coinbase Pro (called GDAX before). This is part of Coinbase which is the biggest marketplace in Europe. You can sign up via Coinbase; after your account is approved you can immediately start trading. In case you are more interested in altcoins you should have a look at Binance. You will find pretty much any coins that is out there and you can trade them for low fees and good prices.

Bitcoin Voucher

It is also possible to give somebody a present in the form of a Bitcoin voucher. You can create your own voucher by working with private keys and QR codes, but some companies will deliver a nice looking gift card straight to your front door. For example bit4coin has the possibility to buy a bitcoin gift card. This giftcard can be exchanges for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or Ripple.

Safely store Bitcoin

In case you start buying cryptocurrencies, make sure you are storing them in a safe place. Never leave large amounts on an exchange or online wallet, as these are prone to hacking and other issues. The safest way is to securely store your bitcoins on a Hardware Wallet. That way you own your private keys. Make sure you don’t lose your cryptocurrencies by leaving them on an insecure environment.
